The Function and Role of Medical Journalism from The Perspective of Medical Communication and Suggestion for Further Development
Kim Yong

Abstract
As a patient has recently been recognized as not a passive object but a subject of medical services, various attempts are being made to strengthen the status of a patient. Medical communication which has been led by a doctor so far is being made with a focus on a patient due to sovereignty of a consumer and activation of medical information. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the process to strengthen the status of a patient as a consumer of health care service through a patient association as medical information becomes public. In order to achieve this goal, we would like to deal with the roles of media which may affect the communication between a doctor and a patient. Accuracy and objectivity are vital in the medical news requiring high professionalism. Journalists who collect news in the medical field dealing with people¡¯s lives can prevent the side effects caused by the articles which should accurately identify the fact and meaning. The Media environment is being eaten into by the commercial viability, but the medical field can restore the trust through self reflection thinking of the basis by itself.
